The world of business & investing for beginners and even some of the more advanced people can make the world of finance adaunting and this site (which is very must still under construction and ongoing!) has been set up with one goal in mind – to bring some basic understanding in plain human language which I hope will empower others.
Whether that´s the basics (or more advanced side) of starting, running or growing a business or understanding the world of investing, the importance of it and hopefully stopping others making some of the mistakes I have over the years!
STOCKTAILS THE NAME?
Stocktails was a name that came about because just like a good cocktail, a successful business (from start-ups through to corporate) or a successful financial future is always best when there are a blend of the finest ingredients. And sometimes we don´t know all the ingredients (just like a cocktail) but we know the taste that we want to enjoy!
Stock– The word used to refer to Shares in a business Tails– Should be “tales” really because the idea of this site is to share my stories, experiences and connect in a way that other can relate. Stocktails– The perfect mix of ingredients for business or investment, carefully brought together into one fantastic recipe. Shaken, not stirred!
MAKING BUSINESS & INVESTING MORE UNDERSTANDABLE
They call me Chico (“el chico” translates to “the boy“), not my real name, but a name that was affectionately used to refer to me many years ago when landed up working in Europe and was the new kid on the block. Since then it´s kind of stuck and what I have become referred to (amongst other not so friendly things at times!) on a daily basis.
From market stall haggling to boardroom battles, I´ve quite literally been there, done it and got the t-shirt. My career so far spanning three decades has taken me around the world and working with businesses of all sizes, quite literally from part time home businesses to international corporate organisations. My personal growth and amazing journey has been through a mixture of luck, some great mentors but also a self belief, determination and the open minded approach to always take on board the full story and always listen, ask and learn
IN THE LONG TERM…
My long term goal is to help young people gain financial awareness and basic understandings and open doors to a better future for the younger generations. I will be writing about how I plan to set out to achieve this over the coming months. Meanwhile, I am a keen follower of the world of finance and post my views (which should never be taken as advice) whilst helping others to start or grow their businesses and shed a little light on some of the complexed matters that sadly leave so many scared of the world of investing. STOCKTAILS THE NAME?
This website is a personal project, a way of expressing my opinions and guiding others in any way that I can. That´s not to say I know it all! I´ve learned in life that we always make mistakes, we never stop learning and improving is about accepting when we get it wrong and instead of wallowing in regret for the things we have done, cherish every lesson that life gives you and use that lesson to make the next move a good one.
I thrive in sharing my experiences and helping others, not in telling them what they should do but perhaps throwing in another way of seeing things or thinking about things to help them to make their decisions in the most educated and informed way. And, once a decision is made, to have confidence and belief in themselves and the motivation to see it through.
I have purposely chosen the medium of a website and a written blog style way of sharing all of this. Why? Because I think that we live in a world where we are consumed by mobile phones, social media, videos and doom scrolling.
